Kenya’s Rising Rugby Stars – The DBA Dream Team Arrives in Uganda

The DBA Dream Team has officially arrived in Uganda!

After an exciting week of rugby training, matches, and travel, this group of young rugby players from Kenya is ready to take on new challenges across the border.

Made up of talented boys from both public and private schools across Kenya, the DBA Dream Team is a perfect example of how rugby can bring together different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. This tour is all about rugby development, learning, and building future rugby players for Kenya.

The journey started on Sunday at St. Christopher’s International College (SCIC), where the team came together for a two-day rugby training camp. This was a key part of the tour, giving the boys time to train hard, learn from each other, and prepare for their upcoming games. The camp finished in style, with the DBA Dream Team putting on a brilliant performance to beat SCIC 50-5.

On Wednesday, the team hit the road, heading towards Uganda with one important stop in Nakuru. There, they faced the DBA Najuru Select, a team made up of players from four different rugby academies supported by DBA Africa. It was a tough and exciting game, but the Dream Team came out on top with a 33-3 win.

After the match, the team continued their journey to Busia and crossed the border into Uganda. After a long day on the bus, they finally arrived at their base in Kampala, the Red Chilli Hideaway.

Friday was all about recovery and new experiences. The team had a light rugby training and stretch session, before watching a live lacrosse training session led by the DBA Lacrosse Academy coaches, many of whom play for the Uganda national team. For most of the boys, this will be their first time seeing lacrosse, giving them a new perspective on teamwork and sport.

The side have two remaining fixtures:

🏉 12th April – vs Kyadondo Rugby Club (Uganda)

🏉 13th April – vs RAMS Academy (Uganda)

Why Sports Development and Rugby Tours Matter

The DBA Dream Team Tour is about much more than just winning rugby games. It’s about rugby development, life experiences, and creating future rugby players who can lead both on and off the field.

This tour gives youth rugby players from Kenya, from both public and private schools, the chance to come together, learn from each other, and represent their country with pride. It’s a rare and special opportunity that allows boys from different parts of Kenya to form bonds, build confidence, and grow not just as players, but as people.

Sports development plays a vital role in shaping future leaders. The DBA Dream Team Tour shows how rugby can break barriers, unite communities, and give the next generation of rugby stars the tools to dream big, work hard, and succeed,  wherever their journey takes them.
